Getting Started

Welcome to Sociable Reviews! This guide will help you set up and start displaying authentic social proof from Facebook, Google, and Trustpilot on your Shopify store.

Installation

1. Install the Sociable Reviews app from the Shopify App Store
2. When prompted, click "Install app" to add it to your store
3. You'll be redirected to the app's dashboard after confirming the subscription

Creating Your First Widget

Follow these three simple steps to create your first reviews widget:

Step 1: Find Your Business IDs

To display reviews, you'll need to provide your business identifier from one or more of these platforms:

• Google Place ID: Use the Place ID Finder to locate your business on Google Maps
• Facebook Business ID: This is the name that appears after "facebook.com/" in your page URL
• Trustpilot Business URL: Your complete Trustpilot URL (e.g., trustpilot.com/review/yourbusiness.com)

Step 2: Create a Widget

1. In the app dashboard, enter your business details:
   1. Business URL or ID
   2. Business Display Name (how your business name will appear)
   3. Widget Name (to identify it in your admin)
   4. Number of Reviews to Display (1-30)
2. Select review sources:
   1. Facebook
   2. Google
   3. Trustpilot
3. Configure options:
   1. Positive Reviews Only (only 4-5 star reviews)
   2. Privacy Mode (hides reviewer names and photos)
4. Click "Create" to generate your widget

Step 3: Add to Your Theme

1. Go to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin
2. Click Customize on your active theme
3. Select the page where you want to add the widget
4. Click Add section → Apps → Sociable Reviews
5. Configure the widget settings in the sidebar
6. Click Save to publish your changes

Layout Options

Sociable Reviews offers three layout styles to match your store's design:

Standard Layout

The Standard layout displays reviews in a grid format with reviewer information, rating, and review content. This is ideal for pages where you want to showcase detailed testimonials.

Features:

• Reviewer name and photo (unless privacy mode is enabled)
• Star rating
• Review date
• Full review content
• Source badge (Google, Facebook, or Trustpilot)

Compact Layout

The Compact layout presents reviews in a condensed format, perfect for areas with limited space or when you want to display multiple reviews in a smaller area.

Features:

• Minimalist design
• Reviewer initial or icon
• Star rating
• Abbreviated review content
• Smaller footprint on the page

Carousel Layout

The Carousel layout displays reviews in a sliding carousel, allowing customers to browse through multiple testimonials without taking up much vertical space.

Features:

• Auto-scrolling display (can be paused by user)
• Navigation arrows for manual browsing
• Pagination dots
• Responsive design that adapts to any screen size
• Perfect for homepages and product pages

Customization Options

Each layout can be customized through the theme editor: - Color scheme - Border radius - Show/hide elements - Number of reviews per row - Font size and style
